Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry “Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry is a confidential, one-to-one caring ministry that provides a trained Stephen Minister to care for someone going through an especially difficult time in their life. Its primary purpose is for a person in need to receive Christ’s love and care through the hands, heart and mind of a Stephen Minister.

When would someone consider the assistance of a Stephen Minister?

Everyone goes through difficult times. Having someone to care, to listen, to share God’s love with you can help you get through the confusion, stress, or loneliness you may be experiencing. Stephen Ministers are ready to provide the emotional and spiritual care we need when we are faced with a crisis or difficult, such as:

• Loss of a loved one
• Hospitalization
• Divorce or separation
• Unemployment or a job crisis
• A terminal illness
• Birth, adoption, or miscarriage
• Relocation
• Recovery after an accident
• And many more

Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry. The identity of those receiving care and what takes place in each caring relationship remain private.

The Stephen Ministry program is a caring, non-judgmental and confidential one-to-one relationship between a trained volunteer and a person experiencing a difficult time or transition in his/her life. In addition, they are committed to providing a listening and supportive environment to those in need of care. Due to the level of training, a two year commitment is involved.

What training does Stephen Ministers receive?
